About palma graça

The work that moves me is that which is somewhere between the figurative and the abstract. I don’t want to paint the scene as I see it, but as I feel it.

Palma Graça Art - Artist Portrait Black and White

Margarida Palma Graça (Lisbon, 1990) has an intrinsic relationship with Art since her childhood, which manifests in her way of being. She drew her first brushstrokes on canvas during her teenage years. Palma Graça has a degree in History of Art (2012) and a Master in Museology (2016). Between working in museums and in the hospitality industry, she never gave up her paints and brushes, having also worked as a makeup artist.

The year 2020 was the turning point: she created her art account on instagram, where she published her work and met her first collectors. During the long months of lockdown, she continuously painted ethereal and atmospheric images, sometimes sublime, other times picturesque; broad places with light spots and shade shelters.

Her landscapes are often suggested (not imposed) by the diagonal movement of the brush and the impressionist smudge. It is in the application and alternation of oil, acrylic, pastel and charcoal techniques that she feels full plastic freedom as she search for the balance between the figurative and the abstract.

Palma Graça has exhibited digitally at the collective Virtual Abstraction (2020) curated by Karin Czermak and at Arca Gallery, Lisbon (2021) curated by Gretta Balin. In June 2025 has presented her first solo show Mar Sonoro by her own curation at Espaço Bento Martins, Lisbon.

Palma Graça has private collectors in Portugal, Spain, Italy, Austria, Finland and in the U.S.A.
